The Bastardz are without any possible doubt, one of the finest croatian bands and the best funk band on the current Croatian
music scene (Radio France International, Midem, Cannes)
The Bastardz were founded in 1995. when they released their first single Your Love, which immediately hit the top of all national
music charts, establishing The Bastardz as one of the finest music groups around.
The Bastardz are a powerful funk based band, combining various influences from pop to jazz, and mixing it with the winning
combination of great musicianship, great songs and a charismatic lead vocalist Lady Miss Helena.
The Bastardz have released 5 albums in Croatia and abroad, have received several national music awards, have been nominated for the
award many times and have received various domestic and international recognition, two years in a row, The Bastardz were included on a compilation cd The Best Of Midem, Cannes, released by Radio France
International, along with the bands/acts like The Cardigans, Natasha Atlas, etc.
The Bastardz are a great live band, and they play on various pop concerts as well as on the major jazz festivals and concerts. Their
unique combination is suitable for people who want to enjoy in the musical skills of the band and the singer, but it is also possible to dance to their music.
Since 1995. The Bastardz have released 10 top ten singles, 3 studio albums, a compilation album and their latest release, a live cd,
The Bastardz Go Jazzy Live. They also produced a live video which is soon to be released on DVD.
Creative core of The Bastardz are singer Lady Miss Helena, and guitarist and songwriter Jex, and the rest of The Bastardz
"crew" are always the finest croatian and international musicians. The Bastardz often reside in The Netherlands, where they perform and record with a number of well kown dutch and international
jazz, funk and other acts.
Besides being a lead singer for The Bastardz, Lady Miss Helena often performs as a soloist on classical and jazz concerts, since she
is classicaly trained vocalist and she graduated on the Graz Conservatory in Austria, while Jex played with several succesfull dutch jazz/acid jazz bands, playing concerts and recording all over the
world, and just recently he was a guest soloists with the big band of the national television.
Lady Miss Helena and Jex are the founders of the Seaside Jazz Festivala in Croatia, which consists of more than twenty different
performances by top international and domestic musicians along the croatian coast in the summer and is one of the most interesting festivals in that area.
